WHY IS MY DOG LETHARGIC AND NOT EATING?

Got any treats?

If your dog (or cat) is lethargic and not eating, you probably want to find the cause. Did they recently have a vet visit? If so, did they get a shot or medication? These commonly cause symptoms like lethargy and poor appetite usually lasting only a day or two.

Other possible causes are pain from a yet undiscovered injury or infection. Or it could be that they ate something they shouldn’t have. On that subject, I have a dog that does this as often as she can! Callie follows her nose where it leads. Strong smells are like a magnet to her and when she finds the source, into her mouth it goes!

As an example, not long after we picked her up from the animal shelter as a puppy, we were walking on the Whitehorse trail along the Stillaguamish river on a beautiful late summer day. The river was down and hardly flowing at that time of year, so we didn’t worry about her going near the water. What we didn’t consider is that the salmon were spawning and some dead ones had washed up on the shore.

A few minutes after Callie and Brandy ran down to the beach, they were back by our side. And then we noticed the smell of rotten fish coming from Callie’s mouth and she was looking poorly. She stumbled and then sat with her head wobbling unsteadily. I scooped her up and we hurried back to the car.

What can you do if your dog eats something it shouldn’t

It was an evening on a weekend and getting to a vet quickly just wasn’t going to happen since we lived 30 minutes from a town big enough to have a vet and they would be closed. Everett and a 24-hour animal hospital was over an hour away. It was up to us to save her if we could.

Right away we dosed her with a tablespoon of mineral oil which she quickly lapped up without any prompting. Then I did my Neuro-Energetic Balancing™ to calm her system down. I did her reset once every hour for 4 hours. After her first reset, I took her into the shower and gave her an enema to help clean her bowels out and maybe have less of a mess to clean up when the mineral oil cleaned out the rest of her system.

Each thing we did seemed to perk her up a little bit, and then she would get lethargic again. But once the mineral oil worked its magic by coating her digestive track and scooting everything along to the exit, we could tell that she was going to make it. The poison of the rotten fish was out of her system and now she could recuperate.

Neuro-Energetic Balancing™ is not normally used as an emergency care modality, but this was one situation where I did use it that way and was glad to have it at my fingertips! For pet owners, I have a video course I call The Rasmussen Reset which shows a simplified and effective home use protocol for resetting the nerve and energy systems. Currently priced at $50, it could save you hundreds in vet bills. If you want that you need to join my Healing Ministry for Animals private membership association (onetime cost of $10). CLICK HERE to contact me and get the membership and the video course. (Not currently available in Washington State)

By-the-way, the other causes I mentioned at the beginning of this article also respond well to Neuro-Energetic Balancing™ plus silver water like you can get from CR Supplements in Kooskia, ID. They sell online of course.

And if you have a real emergency and you have the option, go to your vet or an emergency vet right away.
