My 17-year-old gray tabby cat, Puss, gave us another scare this week. Martha and I have lost track of how many times we thought he was a goner, but it could be nine or maybe more. Hit by car, chomped by coyote, a BIG hole torn in his cheek by an owl (we could see his teeth!), numerous cat fights (which is weird because he is a pacifist-except for mice), urinary tract blockage, severe constipation and a host of minor traumas and issues, and he pulled through them all.
This week though he threw up his dinner, which has happened on occasion, drank some water and promptly threw that up too. Then he stopped eating and drinking for almost two days but then started taking small sips at the water dish. He was getting weaker and stumbling around and we thought it would be over the next day.
Then I remembered who I was!
Then I got the bright idea to give him an energy reset, you know-like I do for other people’s pets. You might think I would have thought of that sooner, but Puss has trained me to leave him alone. He just won’t sit still for intentional touching. He enjoys sitting in my lap and getting petted as often as he can get it but leaves the instant that I touch him with intent to help.
Anyway, I did what I think of as the Basic Reset (I sell a video course on how to do this called, The Rasmussen Reset, for $50) because it’s quick and hits the two best energy balancing points on each side of the body. He was weak enough he didn’t even fight it. I did it again several hours later and then once day for a couple of days. I guess he started to feel it was okay to be touched intentionally after all.
After the first reset he went and drank more than a few sips of water. A while later he went and sat in his feeding spot, so I gave him a tiny bit of wet food with a half teaspoon of mineral oil mixed in and he ate that. I was going on the theory that his bowels were probably dried out, and he needed to get them moving if he was going to live much longer. Mineral oil you can get in any grocery store in the health and beauty aisle.
How is that working out?
Now here we are on day six of this adventure and he just ate a full breakfast laced with about a teaspoon of mineral oil. I only do the mineral oil once a day because it interferes with nutrient absorption and once is enough anyway. He has pep in his step and he just came and asked for more food, so I gave him a couple of pumpkin and psyllium hairball treats to hold him until lunchtime.
With all of his traumas and near-death experiences, we have never taken Puss to the vet. Like me, he has never had any shots and the rest of his care we just make up as we go along. When he broke his leg, we made a walking cast out of a strip of Solo cup and some tape. The hole in his cheek we just dabbed with silver-water a few times and it healed so well you can’t tell it ever happened. Most of his flesh wounds we handled with the silver water.
We’re not against vets and perhaps if we lived closer to town we might make more of an effort in that direction, but it hasn’t been necessary. Our basic belief is that the body knows how to heal if we keep it clean and broken pieces aligned. Oh, and the urinary tract clean (see this post) and the bowels moving!
How many lives has he used up? It must be around nine, give or take. I wonder if Puss is one of the immortals?
